Do Teachers Get Discounts When Buying a New Car?
With the unofficial end of summer quickly approaching, some auto manufacturers are hoping teachers will add a new car to their list of back-to-school must-haves.
Plenty of special offer programs provide discounts to active duty military service members or veterans, first responders or students, but only a few do the same for teachers and professors. Still, for educators in the market for a new ride, offers like these can sway them to choose one car or brand over another.
We compiled a short list of the automakers that provide discounts for teachers. Keep in mind the programs require teachers to provide proof of employment to receive the benefits. Also, some brands may run limited promotions throughout the course of the year for teachers, which we did not include here.
Chevrolet Educator Appreciation Program
Chevrolet, one of two General Motors brands on this list, offers current educators and other employees of public schools, private schools, colleges or universities $500 off the purchase or lease price of eligible 2023, 2024 and 2025 Chevrolet vehicles. Eligible applicants can share the deal with their spouses, and the offer can be combined with other current incentives.
The program applies to a spate of Chevrolet cars, trucks and SUVs. Some of the automaker’s highest-rated vehicles, including the 2025 Trailblazer, the 2024 Colorado and the 2023 Camaro, are eligible for the discount. Notably, no model year of the Corvette is eligible.
